IR-DSU: Fostering Urban and Social Cohesion in France

The Inter-Network of Professionals in Urban and Social Development (IR-DSU), established in 1997, is a national organization in France focused on urban and social cohesion. It gathers professionals from various areas, including small regions and major cities like Aix Marseille Provence, Strasbourg Eurometropolis, and Bordeaux Metropolis. IR-DSU emphasizes knowledge sharing and collaborative learning among its members to enhance practices in urban social development and broader urban social cohesion

Digital Inclusion Factory

The « Fabrique de l’Inclusion Numérique » is a groundbreaking metropolitan initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide and supporting the digital transition, launched in March 2020. This project stands out for its three-pronged approach: « equip, connect, support ». It involves sustainable strategies for collecting and refurbishing computer equipment, establishing affordable internet connection solutions, and providing personalized digital mediation support. With over 1100 computers collected, 500 beneficiaries equipped, and intensive training for digital advisors, this project is a leading example of an innovative and effective fight against digital exclusion.

Empowering Digital Futures: The Threefold Approach of Strasbourg’s Digital Third Place Initiative

Digital Inclusion Consortium

Cybergrange is a dynamic partnership among various stakeholders (educational institutions, associations, specialized prevention) in a Priority Urban Area (QPV) in Strasbourg. Its aim is to combat digital divide and facilitate the professional integration of youth in the digital sector. The consortium focuses on widening digital access and strengthening learning pathways.

Le Shadok Digital Third Place

Le Shadok is an innovative and inclusive digital space managed by the consortium. It serves as a platform to develop digital citizenship, encourage young people’s digital autonomy, and promote responsible digital practices. Designed to be accessible to all, especially those distanced from digital opportunities, it acts as a catalyst for creativity and critical thinking.

Digital Education and Professionalization

This component of the project focuses on guiding individuals especialy youth from their introduction to digital technology to professionalization. It meets the demands of the digital job market and the needs of companies for technological skills. The educational approach is personalized, allowing young people to progress at their own pace while acquiring essential skills.

Digital Guardians: The Net Walkers Initiative – Normandie project

« Les Promeneurs du Net » – The Net Walkers is a French initiative started in 2012 by the Caf of Manche, modeled after a Swedish project, and implemented in Coutances mer et bocage. It aims to integrate youth engagement with the digital world by providing educational support online. This program involves digital professionals, known as « Promeneurs du Net, » who engage with young people on social media to offer guidance, information, and support, focusing on listening and advising rather than monitoring. The project, which includes 60 such professionals in Manche with 7 in Coutances mer et bocage, emphasizes strengthening social connections and developing critical thinking skills in youth regarding digital information. It also features a parenting component, aligning with the broader Local Social Educational Project to enhance collaboration among local stakeholders to address the needs of young people and their families effectively.
